Uptown Coney Island Restaurant, in Ann Arbor, MI, serves classic diner food, including their famous Coney Island hot dogs, to over 500 guests a day. Open from 7:00am to 8:00pm (3:00pm on Sundays), families and businesspeople visit the 30-year-old restaurant to enjoy award-wining breakfasts, lunches, and dinners seven days a week.
Restaurant owner Costas Boutsikakis relies on a UniVac® from Kaivac to keep the busy kitchen and dining room floors spotlessly clean. “The UniVac is an amazing machine,” he raves.
Boutsikakis uses the UniVac on the ceramic tile floor throughout the 3,500 establishment. “Removing grease is an issue for us, and the UniVac works perfectly,” he says. “It leaves the floor completely clean and dry, and you don’t have to mess with a mop.”
As the owner, Boutsikakis often takes on a lot of the restaurant cleaning jobs himself. He is very impressed with the UniVac’s quality and ease of use. “The UniVac definitely makes life easier for me. I bought it well over five years ago and it really holds up. Even the wheels are in great shape and wheels usually give out with a lot of older equipment.”
Thanks to the UniVac, floors in the Ann Arbor restaurant look great. However, the floors in Boutsikakis’s second Uptown Coney Island, located in 15 miles away in Chelsea, MI, could use a little help. “I’m looking at a second UniVac for that location,” Boutsikakis says. “I just went to the National Restaurant Show and checked out a lot of different floor machines. I still like the Kaivac machines best.”
